RESUMES
A resume gives potential employers a
feel for your past experience and skills.
Remember you are trying to market
yourself, so emphasize your strengths.
How do you know what to include in your
resume? What is the best format?
Past experiences matter
While there are many formats to choose
from, the best one is easy for the reader
to find the connection between what you
have done and what they need. You do
this by including skills and experiences
that the reader can understand and by
matching the language from the job
description.
When you match the language from the job desription on your resume AI
screeners will be more likley to recognize your experiences fit the necessary skills
of the job. The human that reads it after the initial screening will also be able
to easily make the connection between your relevant experiences and the skills
necessary to complete the job.
In an Accounting job description found on the State of Oregon jobs website you
can find a Knowledge and Skills section that lists what is needed for this position.
If you have gained any of these skills from past experiences – even classes you
have taken, you should include all of those experiences on your resume with the
matching language from the job description.
